ATTILA LENGYEL, BARISTA AND PHOTOGRAPHER AT OTOTO

ATTILA LENGYEL, BARISTA AND PHOTOGRAPHER AT OTOTO

Earlier this year we were invited to Bucharest by the wonderful Raluca Simiuc, co-founder of concept store OTOTO – she asked us to collaborate on a special installation for Romanian Design Week, about how we use plants instead of plastic. We were overwhelmed by the warm welcome of the team at Ototo – including Attila, who documented our process while setting up the installation and contributed a fresh perspective to the development of our goods. There surely will be more collaborations with the Ototo-Team in the future.

I really like the Roll Pack. It makes me feel special every time I take it outside. The materials are very high quality – very smooth, strong and easy to wear. But I’d go for a darker color now, as the Natural White is hard to keep clean.

WHAT LED YOU TO WHAT YOU DO TODAY?

Photography was a childhood passion of mine, but I never really developed it seriously. Now that I’m part of Ototo, I have a lot of opportunities to take photos of different projects while learning about photography and cameras. I discovered my passion for coffee 14 years ago, when I was in my 20s. That was my real calling, and I consider myself lucky to be part of such a nice specialty coffee community.

WHAT DO YOU CARE ABOUT?

I care a lot about a beautiful and meaningful life, as well as living simply. I consider myself a minimalist. I care about my wealth and my health, my girlfriend, traveling, and the world in general – that’s why I ride a bike every day instead of a car.

HOW DO YOU ADDRESS THIS IN YOUR WORK?

I’m a team leader at Ototo, so I have to be a good example for my team. I care a lot about this place. We’re always trying to create a nice experience for our customers.

WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR IN THE THINGS YOU BUY?

When it comes to shopping, if we’re talking about fashion, I’ll choose rare items, customised ones, limited editions, sustainable and eco-friendly pieces. I’ve spent alot of my money on various coffee equipment for different coffee projects over the years, but I felt it was well spent every time.
