Marco Dessí lives and works in Vienna as an Industrial Designer. He establishment his own design studio in 2007, and has been responsible for many projects with a number of acclaimed Austrian companies, such as Lobmeyr and Wittmann. He owns the QWSTION + Kunsthaus Zürich Limited Edition Shopper.
Quality is an interplay of many factors: the dialogue with the client, the materials, how much time do you dedicate to the design process and what kind of lifespan do I foresee for this product.
HOW WE KNOW MARCO
We invited Marco to show his work on our platform at our QWSTION Store in Vienna back in 2018, after briefly knowing him from several design events. His kind and open nature and our shared interest for well-made products quickly developed into an ongoing exchange of ideas. This resulted in him designing the Lift Lamp, which was exclusively sold at QWSTION Store Vienna for six months.

WHAT LED YOU TO WHAT YOU DO TODAY?
I have been drawing for as long as I can remember. From a very early age I started drawing things that I longed for, and that I mostly didn't get, but I think that's where my relationship with objects started.
WHAT DO YOU CARE ABOUT IN LIFE?
My little family first of all, and then the relationships with people who are close to me. I consider close friends my family and I am not afraid to maintain complex relationships with them. From a professional point of view I’m generally concerned with the question of what constitutes quality in the broadest sense.
HOW DO YOU ADDRESS THIS IN YOUR WORK?
In my profession, quality is an interplay of many factors: the dialogue with the client, the materials, how much time do you dedicate to the design process and what kind of lifespan do I foresee for this product, and more importantly how will it be disposed of at the end of its life cycle. I try to make these complex relationships look simple.
WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR IN THE THINGS YOU BUY?
As far as possible I try to consume things that follow the credo described above but I ask always myself: how long will I like you?
