HOW WE KNOW KIM

Former QWSTION designer Aline first met Kim during her studies in Lucerne – Aline was pursuing product design, and Kim textile design. A few years later, their paths crossed again in Zurich. These days, Kim works on a range of freelance projects, from analogue photography to digital communication.

If I can find something second-hand or vintage, that’s ideal, as these pieces often come with character and longevity.

WHAT LED YOU TO WHAT YOU DO TODAY?

I'm inspired by food, people, and spaces – these passions guide my work in creative projects and digital communication. Telling stories, using photography and video to capture experiences, especially in gastronomy and hospitality. This mix of interests lets me create authentic, mood visuals that works well as marketing and advertising tools for the restaurants, hotels, brands and companies I work with.

WHAT DO YOU CARE ABOUT IN LIFE?

I care about the people in my life – love, relationships, family, and friends are what matters to me. I’m also grateful for the privilege of living in Zürich, where I have the peace and freedom to work on what I love. Being able to balance connections with fulfilling work is something I don’t take for granted, and it’s what drives me.

HOW DO YOU ADDRESS THIS WITH YOUR WORK?

Just as I prioritize relationships in my life, I cultivate long-term brand partnerships with the same care and commitment.

WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR IN THE THINGS YOU BUY?

I try to buy as little as possible, but when I do, I look for items that are functional, timeless, and crafted with quality. If I can find something second-hand or vintage, that’s ideal, as these pieces often come with character and longevity. If I buy new, I choose items that are made to last and with a classic, timeless design, that won’t go out of style quickly. Working in advertising, surrounded by beautiful visuals, it’s easy to feel tempted, but I try to aim for balance in what I bring into my space and closet.
